Deliver and/or verify railway signalling designs / projects and/or contribute to larger, more complex design projects to relevant standards, or code of practice, and agreed client requirements.

Responsibilities: 

  • Significant Experience (8- 10 Years) in all aspects of Signalling Design and Implementation of Signalling Systems including but not limited to
  • Production, Checking and Approval of feasibility, outline and detailed Signalling Principles Designs and calculations
  • Design, Checking and Verifying of Signalling Circuits, Signalling Plans, Bonding Plans, Location / REB Designs, Control Tables, Data and Location Drawings
  • A full understanding of the Engineering life cycle and its processes
  • Current knowledge of signalling design processes
  • Extensive knowledge of LU and or Network Rail standards
  • Able to lead the production of signalling design drawings as instructed and in accordance with own knowledge and experience, and to act as an independent verifier of the work of others
  • Able to provide resource estimates to the Design Manager
  • Able to act as a Mentor to members if the signalling design staff as directed
  • Able to communicate effectively and establish good relationships with other team members and with other disciplines and peers
  • Professional qualification to Chartered Engineer level
  • Knowledge of contractual conditions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills Excellent understanding of Task, Time and People Management

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:

  • Appropriate HND or professional engineering / diploma engineering qualifications (preferably in Electrical) and suitable training courses
  • IRSE Licence Signalling Principles Designer 1.1.550 and Verifier’s Licence 1.1.160
